Micro Communications (MCi) high power broadcast diplexers are constant impedance units to combine the visual and aural transmitter outputs to one antenna. MCi diplexers utilize various waveguide and coaxial components, including 3 dB hybrids. The various diplexer designs we manufacture include: high-power for UHF-TV, UHF compact, medium power UHF unitized, low power dual sound, and VHF-TV stereo diplexers.
UHF-TV High Power Waveguide Broadcast Diplexers
MCi high power waveguide diplexers are constant impedance units used to combine the visual and aural transmitter outputs to one antenna. The standard diplexer design incorporates broadband short-slot hybrids, high-Q aural cavities, -3.58 color notch cavities and a reject load.
- Low Insertion Loss
- High Power Handling Capability
- Ideal for Replacement of Troublesome Diplexers
- Stereo and MTS Performance
The aural resonators, constructed of low coefficient-of-expansion Invar, allow only negligible drift. This results in very efficient, reliable and stable operation. Also available are special remote control aural de-tuners which will permit multiplexing through the diplexer visual input.
Depending upon the frequency and channel range, our high power waveguide broadcast diplexers utilize either WR1150, WR1500 WR1800 waveguide, or 6 – 1/8 EIA coaxial as input or output interface flanges.
All MCi diplexers have the symmetrical aural response necessary for multi-channel sound.
Specifications
Frequency: | Specify Channel (14-70) |
Visual: | 0.1 dB (98% Efficiency) |
Aural: | 0.35 dB (92% Efficiency) |
Rejection: | 35 dB (aural to visual) 30 dB (visual to aural) |

UHF Coaxial Compact Broadcast Diplexer
Micro Communications UHF Compact Diplexers are constructed of broadband coaxial hybrids and high Q cavity sections in a unitized frame for floor or ceiling mounting. The aural cavities are constructed of Invar, an ultra-thermally stable metal. Our designs are silver-plated to guarantee low loss for combining. These high-quality materials result in a very efficient, reliable and stable diplexer, especially for CCIR dual sound requirements.
- Ideal for Solid State Transmitter
- Low Loss
- Low VSWR
- Compatible with CCIR Dual Sound
- High Isolation
These diplexers satisfy FCC and CCIR bandwidth requirements and have minimum pass band variation and group delay. Models are available for UHF channels 14 to 69. Power levels from 2 to 60 kW peak visual are available.

Insertion Loss | 0.1 dB (visual frequency) 0.4 dB (aural frequency) |
Isolation | 35 dB (visual – aural) 30 dB (aural – visual |
UHF Unitized Broadcast Diplexer
Micro Communications UHF unitized broadcast diplexers are constructed of broadband coaxial hybrids and a cavity section assembled in a unitized frame. The cavity section is made up of two high Q aural cavity pair. One pair provides a minimum of 30dB of rejection for the color energy below the visual, while the other pair of cavities are for the aural carrier. The aural cavities are constructed of low coefficient-of-expansion Invar and are silver-plated.

VHF-TV Stereo Broadcast Diplexers
MCi’s VHF-TV Stereo Broadcast Diplexers are constructed of broadband coax hybrids and a cavity section assembled in a unitized frame for floor mounting or ceiling mounting. The aural cavities utilize a high Q design.
The diplexer is easily packaged in any custom installation. It includes a mounted reject load with RF sampling probe. Color notch cavity is not included, but can be supplied. Wattmeters and directional couplers are additional.
Models are available for USA VHF channels 2-6 and 713. Additionally, in European VH channels 2-4 and 5-12.
Models are available for Hi-V (Band III) that can be tuned across the entire band. Consult factory for specifications.
