History of Micro Communications
In 1966, Micro Communications Inc. (MCi) was originally founded to support the broadcast market. Over the following decades, MCi continued product development to meet new market demands from the scientific, medical and industrial sectors – all the while fulfilling their legacy as a leader in the broadcast and communications sectors.
In the early 1970’s, Microwave Techniques (MT) was founded in Raymond, Maine. The two companies (MT and MCi), supported similar clients in the scientific, broadcast, radio communications, industrial and scientific sectors. The synergy between Microwave Techniques and MCi would be rekindled in a corporate merger nearly 50 years later.
In 2007, MCi received an Emmy™ award in recognition for their innovative broadcast solutions. The 2007 award recognized MCi for innovative solutions for Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) standards broadcast transmission RF filters.
In 2008, MCi received a second Emmy™ award, in recognition of Pioneering RF Combiners for Adjacent Channels on Common Antenna Systems.
The back-to-back Emmy™ awards are indicative of MCi’s growth, product development and commitment to quality standards and excellence in adjacent channel combining technology for the broadcast industry.
In 2014, Mega Industries acquired MCi. This opened up new doors for Mega in the broadcast industry. Since that time, Mega has continued the integration of MCi’s legacy product lines into the Mega portfolio.
In 2020, Microwave Techniques LLC was reinstituted. The name for the group was inspired by the previously-mentioned Microwave Techniques (acquired by Mega in 1991), which was originally headquartered in Raymond, Maine.
The Microwave Techniques group includes the product lines from Mega, MCi, Ferrite Microwave Technologies and FXR dummy loads. The group now has manufacturing space across multiple facilities throughout New England, with divisions for RF components and industrial microwave systems.
